In Minnesota,summer always feels too short. We soak up the long days, the lake life, and the energy that comes with warmth and light. And then, almost overnight, fall arrives—bringing its own beauty but also signaling change. The transition can feel bittersweet: we know what we’re leaving behind, even as we prepare for and get excited about what’s next. The skills a leader models — whether intentional or not — cascade through the entire organization. Bad habits trickle down. So does burnout. And conversely, and just as rapidly, clarity, coaching, and strong leadership skills can multiply and drive growth in amazing and quantifiable ways. Just last week, I coached a client whose business is scaling quickly. Alongside purchasing, staffing, and selling, she named developing leaders as one of her top three initiatives this fall. Why? Because it’s not enough for her to lead alone anymore — she now needs to lead and develop leaders, and equip them to lead others. That’s the reality of growth: operations matter, business development matters, but without skilled leadership, everything else eventually stalls.
